Vocation

The word “vocation” comes from the Latin “vocare” – to call. Life itself is vocation in that all of us are called to become the person God created us to be, to make the journey to the fullness of life He intends for us, and that call is inscribed in the depths of our being, written in our hearts, to be felt in our deepest hopes, ideals and desires.

Is there anyone here who yearns for life and desires to see good days? (The Rule of St Benedict, Prologue)

The very first words, then, that I would like to say to every young Christian are these: Christ is alive and he wants you to be alive! (Pope Francis, Christus Vivit 1)

The path we take in life is always completely up to us. When the Lord made us, he made us free. He never compels us to anything, but neither does He ever abandon us. Instead He constantly calls us to Himself and to the fullness of life He wants for us. That call constantly reverberates deep within us, His voice whispers to us.
