Tai Chi and Christian Meditation
Tai Chi has been described as ‘meditation in movement’. Christian Meditation involves stillness. During this retreat we balance these paradoxical practices to help focus our body and mind on being open to God.
Terry Doyle has been studying the Eastern Arts and teaching Tai Chi for over 30 years. He is also an Oblate with the World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM) and finds the two paths complement each other in that they both lead to inner stillness and greater self awareness.
No previous experience is required, and those who have been before are most welcome to renew their practice and re-connect.
Alongside this exploration, retreatants will have the opportunity to join the Monastic Community for its daily cycle of prayer, Mass, and sessions led by monks, with ample time for personal reflection, prayer, or exploring the beautiful surroundings of Ampleforth Abbey.
This guided retreat includes full board and light refreshments.
