Retreat: Unwrapping some Religious Clichés
A cliché is a phrase that was once striking and thought-provoking but which, with overuse, has lost its power to inspire. Winston Churchill is said to have criticized a memorandum for ‘using every cliché except God Is Love and Please Adjust Your Dress Before Leaving’.
Fr Richard will attempt to unwrap some religious clichés, starting with God is Love, and retreatants are invited to bring their own examples of religious phrases which have lost their power to inspire or whose meaning has become obscure.
This guided retreat includes full board and light refreshments.
If you live locally, you can now join this retreat as a non-resident for £66 which includes a two-course lunch and refreshments Saturday - Sunday.
