Join us this March for more insightful and thought-provoking Home Retreats, led by a different member of our monastic community each week.
'"Happy are those who mourn" How can this be?' by Fr Richard
Saturday 4th March at 11am
Fr Richard will attempt to make some sense of the Beatitudes (Matthew 5: 3-10). What was Jesus telling us when he began the Sermon on the Mount with them?
'Lost sheep, lost coin, lost son: on Luke chapter 15' by Fr Gabriel
Saturday 11th March at 11am
This retreat talk looks at the threads that hold together the three parables of Luke chapter 15 which were all told as part of a response to Jesus’ critics, who were complaining that he welcomed sinners and ate with them. It is on the Lenten theme of God’s mercy.
'Dare to live' by Abbot Robert
Saturday 18th March at 11am
We live in times that can be full of stress and many challenges. This can cause us to simply try and survive. We were not created to survive but to thrive and live life to the fully. The short reflection will encourage us to look to the teaching of Jesus and find life.
'Nazareth and Gethsemane – with the best will in the world…' by Fr Chad
Saturday 25th March at 11am
The Annunciation is normally seen as pointing towards the Nativity, nine months later. But Mary’s obedience at Nazareth also points us towards Jesus’ obedience at Gethsemane, both surrendering their will after struggle and questioning. This retreat talk will look at what we can learn from both as we enter Passiontide, for those moments in our lives when we face agonising choices.
Each Home Retreat consists of a 10-20 minute reflection and concludes with a series of suggestions for activities and further reflection throughout the day.
