Greetings from Ampleforth Abbey
At this time of year, we would normally be hard at work getting the boarding houses ready for our lettings programme and gearing up to welcome hundreds of guests to join us for the Easter Triduum. Sadly, following the Government advice on measures to reduce the transmission of Coronavirus, we have had close all parts of the Ampleforth Abbey site to visitors and residential guests. We have however been working hard to ensure you have plenty of ways to keep in touch with the Ampleforth community. Please read further to see what resources we are providing at this difficult time. e-Ampleforth is still going strong, with many of our staff still working from home, so please do keep in touch via email at this unsettling time. Thank you and stay safe.
Live streaming of services from the Abbey Church
As well as audio live streaming of all services from the Abbey Church, we are now live video streaming daily Mass via Youtube. More than 300 people joined us for our first live Mass on Sunday and the recording has already been viewed 1,400 times! Click here to learn more.
Home Prayers
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday 1st April, we will be live streaming ‘Home Prayers’ at 10.00am every day (except Sunday). Fr Chad will be leading the first of these, which will include a short time of prayer led by a monk with the words available online to allow those listening to join in. This will be followed by a brief reflection from the monk. We hope you can join us via audio or video live streaming.
Together in Prayer
We have added a new section to the Ampleforth Abbey website that includes links to some useful resources that you may find helpful at this uncertain time. We will be adding video content and more resources over the coming days – if you have further ideas of what we could include to support our extended Ampleforth family, please do let us know by emailing Claire.Evans@ampleforth.org.uk. Click here for more details.
Photos from the Valley
As well as the resources provided on our Abbey website, we also have a photo gallery available on our Visit Ampleforth website. Over the years, many of our visitors have shared their own photos of the magnificent Ampleforth valley with us. Click here to see a selection and please email us your photos to include in our online gallery – Claire.Evans@ampleforth.org.uk.
