All support staff have a minimum of 4% contribution to their pension, this is generously matched up to 8%. An annual salary review takes place for all staff members. There is also a Bounty Scheme where staff members receive incentives should they introduce new staff to the Housekeeping or Food and Events departments; these incentives are awarded after one month, three months, six months and 12 months service, totalling £250.
We endeavour to support all staff members to the very best of our ability. We operate family friendly policies such as childcare voucher schemes, company maternity provisions (on top the the statutory time given) and flexible working opportunities. There is also an Employee Assistance Programme, offering a free and confidential 24/7 support service. This service provides unlimited access to advice and information, coaching and counselling where appropriate. In addition to this, a Staff Chaplain is also available to offer advice and support.
Ampleforth takes the welfare, health and well-being of its staff seriously. We offer multiple leisure opportunities such as reduced Sports Centre membership, discounted rates at the Golf Course in neighbouring village, Gilling East, and a staff cycle scheme. The grounds of the campus are well maintained and open to staff for walking and running during lunch breaks.
Role specific courses are available for all existing staff, with the opportunity for staff to be guided through NVQs or professional managerial qualifications. Other individual qualifications are funded where appropriate. Apprenticeships are available for selected roles, allowing individuals to split time between college and the workplace.
On top of professional development, welfare, support and a generous pension scheme, the Ampleforth Abbey Trust also offers its staff many day-to-day perks. These include a discount in the Abbey Shop and Tea Room. There are also regular staff briefings ensuing staff stay involved and informed of Trust's wider activities and a competitive company sick pay scheme with access to occupational health services. The Trust also provides a generous holiday entitlement starting at 22 days (increasing to 27 days with length of service) plus eight bank holidays and three days over the Christmas close down.
